Whitney Returns With New Album in September!!

Music icon Whitney Houston is set to return with the worldwide release of her new album on September 1st on Arista Records.

The new material marks the seventh studio album for the legendary singer. Houston’s self-titled debut was released in 1985 and the singer has enjoyed an illustrious career that has generated over 170 million combined worldwide sales of albums, singles and videos.

Houston is credited by the Guinness Book of World Records as music’s “most awarded female artist of all time,” and has achieved an unsurpassed tally of 411 awards - including 6 Grammy Awards, 2 Emmy Awards, 23 American Music Awards and 16 Billboard Music Awards.

Awww c'mon. No need to get all worked up about it. As many have already mentioned, those of us who have been DJing for years have already experienced Whitney / Junior Whitney / Jonathon Peters, etc. back in the late 90's.

Everyone has a different dancefloor. My current dancefloor would react far better to a Freemasons / Whitney combo at this point in time than to any sort of JV / Whitney combination. Of course he could surprise me (as he's done many a time before) but if I were A&R, I'd head to the Freemasons too. Whitney could use a happy upbeat song to put her career backontrack, and the general public has embraced the Freemasons sound as of late.

As I said, don't flip out. It's a matter of taste. I know that people have dissed the "Circuit" sound recently in the States, but that's because it *has* become a slighty stagnant sub-genre of dance music. What can one expect when the "sound" is centered on a specific group of people within the Gay community, who actually relish trying to keep the "scene" exclusive (supposedly) and too expensive for most people to even experience. Of course that's in the States. I've been to many events in Montreal and Europe that are not like that. But then again, I don't generally hear American Circuit music at those events anyway, unless the DJ is from the States.

Tastes Ebb and Flow. Don't flip out. We should be SUPPORTING music, not infighting.

Junior was there in early nineties... Remixing every name on the planet. He is still there. He is getting old. He is old. But still his touch is often brings magic to the dance floor. He is still called by top names. His career did not not start in 1999. It did not not peak in 1999. You might think that 1999 was big for him, but Sound Factory closed in 1996. Madonna hasn't called for years in 1999 . And there was tons of his haters in 99.

I think the man deserves respect. You might not like his work, but in all honesty Freemasons got a long long long way to go to catch up with Junior.

And by the way in music everything comes in cycles. Big room sound will be back. Sooner than later. After following Junior for almost two decades and being a big fan of Freemasons as well I am willing to bet that there is a higher chance in Juniors name on top remixes few years from now, than Freemasons name.

I'm so glad to read something like that FindYourFooting.
You know, this forum is one of my only windows to the American dance music. So when I see some people here blaspheme the circuit music, and less and less people who love/defend it, I feel that circuit music begins to die....
I'm not even going to the USA yet. I have no idea how the American people (gay or straight) behave with circuit music/electro/funky-disco-house etc...

And Workitout, it's not easy to develop my own opinion about a subject where I have very little information and just a very few sources. But I will definitely go to the US soon and see what's going on in this crazy country!

Magnus - Nobody seems to mind that Paula Abdul's and Britney Spears' voices have always been fixed in the studio. Not to mention, Kanye West and all those other guys with their "Autotune" sound. I do hope it won't suck, but just like with the two other singers you mentioned above, studio tricks can only do so much. She won't be having any amazing vocal moments on this record and if the Akon collaboration is an indication of the direction she is going in, it will be a very generic US mainstream album

I hope she sounds amazing, the singles chart high, and the album sells millions!

Yecin, i still love your posts, but i don't like Jr Vasquez recent mixes and i love Freemasons and Moto Blanco mixes and i think one of them need to be on the remixers list with Tony Moran, Eddie Baez, Escape and some other circuit deejays as well.

I think IF the original one would not be great itself, althought the remix can be and save the day!
