Best unofficial mixes

Hey guys,

Here's a confession: I tend to skip "home made" mixes. Maybe it's just a burn from the past, when people would just lay beats on the album version or use synths that aren't in key, I just... stopped caring.

But there are some cool ones out there, right? Like that "Peggy's revnge mix" (Was that it's name?) of Madonna's fever. It's not official and built around the percapella, but it's got a great, unique vibe.

The Leama and Moor bootleg mix of Avril Lavigne's I'm with you is another good example: Made with the album version, but a completly new creation which made me appriciate the original.

Another? The Shiloh bootleg mix of The Beatles - Becasue. One roof party a famous local DJ threw that one out of the blue just as it started to rain... It was a sensation I can't describe. I think it's my definitive clubbing moment.

Any adds to the list? I'm talking about mixes done with no intention of releasing them, from pellas or not.... Mixes that were paid for by the label and remained unreleased don't count ;)

Just music.

I actually PREFER remixes that use the original more often than not. That way you have all or most of the elements that make it a hit, but brings it to the dance floor.

I love mixes that use the original as well. The Illicit remix of "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" is a great example.

I'm one of those people that hardly ever will touch a bootleg, especially since they all try to be rauhofer or t-puss and have zero basslines but I will say that Liam Keegan Mixes are pretty great.

Glimmering under neon lights
I can see the look, that's in your eyes
Like a shooting star in a galaxy
Making its way to the heart of me....

I think Nic Mercy's initial mix of "Something Happened On The Way To Heaven" is pretty stellar, and was really disappointed to not see it get an official release (especially when it was clearly the impetus for Hosh to get his pet project, Valentin, and Junior Vasquez to remix it based off the success of Nic's mix). And Nic was the only one to keep the bridge in, which I loved! His mix for LeAnn Rimes "Right Kinda Wrong" is also fantastic.

Speaking of this classic Deb track, had no idea that longtime
remixer Denny Tsettos also did a fab mix for this track along with
the others mentioned which I recently stumbled upon:

It's been quite a while since I seen Tsetto's name on a new production, I lived for his collaborations with Anthony Acid and
Eddie Baez from back in the day.

I've heard many good unofficial remixes over the years but one that really stands out to me is the Orangefuzzz Club Mix of Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" (I think it's his remix at least, if memory serves me correctly). It sort of had a Moto Blanco-esque vibe to it and although the vocals were slowed down considerably, the remix was produced in such a good way that still made it catchy and worth listening to.

K.O. remixes

Being a die hard fan of club songtress Reina, I always thought her melancholy ballad "On My Own" merited a 'big room' anthem mix in which remixer K.O provided with his fabulous EPIC production which should have been included on the CD5 with those official remixes. Another is K.O.'s hard pounding mix for Kelly Clarkson's "Because Of You" and for the Beatles "A Hard Day's Night".

Some of the Petyasb remixes done with official acapellas.

Most of the unofficial remixes for Britney's "Someday (I Will Understand)" were really creative and professional.
