Cher: Closer To The Truth

Samples are up on Amazon and iTunes and the album sounds fantastic... yes there is a vocoder-full tune TAKE IT LIKE A MAN... a real real charmer called I WALK ALONE which incorporates the new Avicii-folk-dance sound, and some ballads. Of course there are bound to be many naysayers, but the album is a straight-ahead shiny pop/dance album. Hooray!

I love "I Walk Alone"! Great track, and I'm overall pleasantly surprised by this album :)

Cher's Closer To The Truth

-begging for remixes from this release are: "My Love", "Pride" & the Mark Taylor produced "Lovers Forever". Natural dance adds will be "*Take It Like A Man" and "*Dressed To Kill", along with the Timbaland produced "I Don't Have To Sleep To Dream", the latter available on the Deluxe/Target Editions only. "I Walk Alone" is the Pink written track, a pop-rock number produced by Billy Mann & MachoPsycho (My Fav). A very upbeat cd with lots of choices for the club. I believe, one of her better cd's! Note: *Vocoder usage is restricted to 3 songs: TILAM, DTK & Woman's World. A plus is the beautiful "I Hope You Find It" ballad, great for closing the night!

If anyone is thinking of buying this album (and really, why wouldn't you?) definitely go for the Target deluxe edition, because the bonus track "Will You Wait For Me" is the best song she's put out in years. A beautiful heart-wrenching ballad that's brought tears to my eyes - a TRUE MASTERPIECE!!!

It's out today. I tried to like one song and I did: Woman's World, but that's it. What can I say, though? Her album is #3, currently, on iTunes. I'll give her that much:)

'Cher Says Warner Bros Doesn’t Seem To Care About Her New Album ‘Closer To The Truth’

Cher jumped on Twitter today (February 6) to vent about her record label’s lack of interest in new album Closer To The Truth. It seems like negative reviews of the gay Purn-tastic video for club single “Take It Like A Man” prompted her outburst. “The video had nothing 2 do with me,” she tweeted. “I was told it would only be shown in gay bars.”

“It’s true WB’s hasn’t got a Great Deal of Interest In My CD,” the pop icon continued. And Cher could have a point. With the exception of a couple of “Woman’s World” performances, there hasn’t been a huge push to support the actually rather enjoyable LP, which has sold 285,000 copies since being released in September 2013.

More concerning, the worst songs on Closer To The Truth — like the above-mentioned/highly embarrassing “Take It Like A Man” — have been released as singles, while gems such as “Red”, “Sirens” and “I Don’t Have To Sleep To Dream” go to waste. Hopefully, her blockbuster Dressed To Kill tour will revive interest in the project. See Cher’s tweets after the jump.

Just read mean TILAM review The video had nothing 2 do with me.I was told it would only be shown in gay bars. It’s true WB’s hasn’t got a

Is it only me that I find the video of Take It Like A Man wrong in so many ways? People, specifically gays, don't seem to bother these days to "see" a bit further from their nose or just the obvious, if you get what I mean... I am getting seriously offended by that video and I am really rarely getting offended by a video, if ever.

Totally agree that while the video is tacky and somewhat tasteless, it did get the job done. Namely, exposure of the song since WB stopped promo of CTTT after "I Hope You Find It". The video was shot by some "friends" of Cher's using models for an underwear ad, and simply adding her music. Guess it was a case of "this video vs. no video". I simply don't watch it - easy remedy! They did do a "remix" of that first video which is more toned down. At any rate, TILAM has peaked at #2 so this song has a few weeks more on the charts before vanishing, like the rest.

Tacky and tasteless? That's not the issue here, I wish it was. We're talking about sexual objectification of men and projection of a (really) wrong image of the LGBT community (to name a few of the serious issues with that video). Everyone can bare a boring/stupid video, but that one is way beyond the limits the word "offensive" can cover, it needs to get pulled from Youtube ASAP. These people at Warner are shameless and in a rather embarrassing and unintelligent way.

Much of the car wash footage is from an Andrew Christian underwear promo/buzz video which features some of their models in some of their many product offerings splashing around and having fun. Within the context of that video it's fine since their marketing tends to be of a sexy, adults only variety. But feels so out of place as a 'music video' for this song (though this is still less explicit than some of the other recent music videos by other artists). I wasn't offended, but it just felt strange.

"Red"

Aside from remixing Cher's "Take Like A Man", and "I Walk Alone", it appears the remix duo 7th Heaven also remixed
her third single "Red" which I stumbled upon this vintage blurb:

um, no *lol* that looks like some crazed fan's invention of an iTunes playlist - no official physical CD release could EVER exist with that tracklisting (obviously)

update: I was right, it's a bootleg DVD release from last year: http://msjukebox.com/products/cher-2-dvd-bonus-cd-set-closer-to-the... -- there's even a post about it on Cher's official message board site: http://cher.yuku.com/reply/187683/Music-Video-Collection#.WA1z9PTTI... -- looks like it originates from Brazil possibly? definitely fan-made/unofficial item though
