Cool! I was just listening to some of these songs the other day and thinking how I wished there were great mixes. Not a fan of Nervo's mix. Hopefully Yolanda Be Cool will bring the magic!

Upon first listening I must admit the Nervo mix is kind of dissapointing. They obviously tried creating something that wouldn't be the obvious thing to do, and the little touches of original drums and parts in the second verse and the reharmonization are very original and refreshing, alas they cannot compete with the emotion the original displayed. Getting rid of the chorus was.... questionable in this case.

Just music.

If I had my druthers I would have squeezed on the Josh
Harris and Eddie Baez remixes for "Time After Time" on this
particular release.

Btw- Speaking of Cyndi remixes, had no idea that Manny
Lehman did a remix for "True Colours" albeit a dubby type
hard mix.

I'm still hoping for the full Richard Morel mix of "True Colors" to show up on something, but these new remixes are intriguing!

I don't like the idea of new remixes being included with the original album. Actually, I wouldn't like them on the bonus disc. These new mixes should be released as their own, separate release. This would have been a great opportunity to include all of the mixes/tracks from the 12" Singles.

Side note: Anyone else remember when Cyndi and Patti LaBelle did a duet of "Time After Time"?

Very well put. I'd love to find out if Nervo ever did a FULL VOCAL mix, and conversely, if anyone has a Dub or Instrumental for their remix (I'm trying to do a mixshow/re-edit to their mix, for DJ gigs, and it's tough going). I thought the Bent Collective mixes sucked all the joy and gentleness from the original song, while the Nervo mix managed to retain all the sweet innocence and emotion of Cyndi's vocals, and the lyrics, and the whole record itself. Also, I wonder why they're a year late with this project?

Cyndi mentioned at her She's So Unusual concert a few months ago that this re-release was forthcoming, but that it was coming a little bit late because she wanted to make sure it was chock full of worthwhile demos and bonuses. She didn't want to waste the opportunity with something that wasn't worthwhile for the fans, so she took the time to get as much bonus material together before releasing it.

I'm actually loving both of these more than I thought I would. Not sure who Loud Ward is or why he hasn't learned how to count to 32, but his intro is fu__ked up, in a sad kind of unfortunate way. Thankfully the rest of his mix is pretty hot, in a mellow kind of understated way. The "drum beats out of time" part is clever. What Alex Gaudino did with essentially putting his remix in the key of G (when the song itself is in C) is musically genius, and completely threw me off the first time I heard it - I had to go back and start listening from the beginning. Really really clever. And I like that he kept the chorus harmony vocals, when Loud Ward didn't.

I hear some sounds on Bent Collective Radio Mix that reminds me of Flash & the Pan - Midnight Man.

I like the short one of their Cyndi Remix

Just loop his intro to make 32. That's fixed easily enough.

I have to say, the previous sets of remixes did nothing for me, but both of these are absolutely fantastic, keeping the integrity of the original song but reinvigorating and reinterpreting the sound in a 90's-revival garage mode (LordWaddd) and a current big-room sound (Gaudino) that, again, somehow still stays mellow and gorgeous like the original. Played both of these out at different gigs this weekend to superb results. Nice job.

Reading through the comments on that article is appalling....this is the most picky bunch of ungrateful crybabies I've ever seen - YIKES!!! I for one would RATHER have new/updated remixes & old demo versions than the original 80's extended/12" versions, which are completely useless to me. But that apparently makes me in the minority....

Here's an idea...

She's So Unusual 30th Anniversary 2 CD Edition, which would include the original album, the remixes, single edits, demos and live performances from the era.

She's So Unusual 2014 Remixes, which would include new remixes (maybe every track getting a new remix). I do like the idea of having access to tracks that wouldn't fit onto either release via download...especially the new mixes, as most will likely be Promo only.

Two separate releases...let the public decide what they want to purchase.

Do you understand the concept of throwing out misinformed blanket generalizations that are usually inaccurate, and judgemental to boot?

(of course you do) :P

But the thing is, you are coming across as if you're opinion is move valid than the opinion of others. First, the CD format is dying. This will probably be the last time there'll be a reissue of She's So Unusual (and for those counting, this will be the SECOND reissue). The whole point of reissues is to include all the material available from the era, especially to include material that's available vinyl-only. This reissue of She's So Unusual has left ALMOST everything out. That's just ridiculous for a reissue. The price tag is a joke, even after it has been reduced.

So why are fans, according to you, being "crybabies"? Wouldn't you be a crybaby too for expressing your opinion as well? The space is there to fit all the missing tracks. And how can an old remix be useless but not a demo?

Per your post, these reissues are USELESS to you, as they contain nothing but old mixes, and do not contain new mixes and demos.

extended versions and 12" remixes from 31 years ago = useless :) however these Banananananarama ones I ordered are from the early 90's when I was actually listening to pop music (1983 was before my time)

Nervo's mix is the clear winner for me, here. Weirdly, the slight editing of her vocals makes them sound even more emotive. Gaudino's mix is fine and LoudWarddd's is creative in parts, but they don't really hit like Nervo's does. And I don't listen to Bent Collective remixes anymore because they're pretty predictable - is this any different?

So disappointed in all of these.

If someone had done a good extended mix that was just tweaked a bit and BPM'd up, I would have been happy.

I think this was a terribly thought out remix package, and that's really unfortunate.

Commercial Remix Package E.P.

Last month a commercial remix E.P. was also released digitally:

Cyndi Lauper "She's So Unusal" E.P
1."Time After Time" (2023 NERVO OCT 30 Mix)
2."Time After Time" (2013 Alex Gaudino & Jason Rooney Mix)
3."Girls Just Want to Have Fun" (2013 Alternate Yolanda Be Cool Mix)
4."Time After Time (The Lord Warddd Mix)
5."Girls Just Want to Have Fun (2013 Anamanaguchi Mix)
6."Time After Time" (Bent Collective Mix)

Btw- Manny Lehman did a dub mix for Cyndi Lauper's "True
Colours" a few years back and I've always been curious if he
also did an accompanied Vocal mix?

I really like this 30th anniversary edition, it's a great listen.
My favorite is the Arthur Baker remix of She Bop. You couldn't EVEN walk into a roller-rink at that time and NOT hear this fabulous remix. I'll never tire of it.

The NERVO and Yolanda versions on here seem to be the low quality demo versions sent for approval instead of the final versions on the CD re-issue. Interesting to hear, but if you want finished high quality mixes, I recommend the original release, not this one.

Speaking of Cyndi Lauper's classic "Time After Time":

Savi & Torio ft. Kait Weston "Time After Time"-

PROGRESSIVE HOUSE - EDM. "Time After Time" (Original Mix) - 10A - 128 - Savi and Torio produce this huge floor-filling re-working of the Cyndi Lauper classic 1985 Grammy winning song of the year "Time After Time" with Kait Weston doing a wonderful performance on the vocals. A Beatport exclusive from 8th June for two weeks then all other stores from 22nd June...

See now, I've never understood this. Artists/producers who lazily cover a song that's already had 1,000 dance remakes & cover versions in the last couple decades, and even proper remixes from the original artist herself! There must be a hundred other 80's songs I can think of that have never had a dance cover version done, that would be just as recognizable as Time After Time (and thus would stand out more, to not be just another samesy uninspired rehash). Shoot, even from Cyndil's back-catalog alone I could list off a half-dozen songs just off the top of my head that'd make fierce dance remakes! (see below) but that haven't already had countless covers done over the years (by everyone from Barry Manilow, EBTG, and Willie Nelson to Matchbox 20, Inoj, and Uncle Cracker). Not sure who Savi & Torio or Kait Weston are, but they are sadly lacking brains in the imagination dept....
